So last night, K and I were heading out for our semi-regular Fridate. We drove past that shoe store on Spring Garden...and there it was. The motivation I've been seeking.
A short, green, gorgeous frye boot.
Holy sweet jesus, stop the car.
We went in, we looked, I tried the frigger on. It fits like you can't even believe. It feels amazing on my foot, and looks even better on my leg. To say I fell in love would be a gross understatement.
Here's the thing, and there's always a thing, isn't there? They're three hundred some odd dollars. More than I've ever spent on myself for one item, unless it was a car, house or laptop.
But. WANT.
They have layaway. Twenty five percent down (in this case, eighty or so bucks) non-refundable. Then, two months to pay the remaining three quarters.
So I began hatching a plan.
A plan that would both get me the boots...and let me earn them.
I've been trying...and failing...to get back on the horse once and for all this year. I can't find my motivation, somehow.
But then suddenly, there it was in the window of that shoe store.
So the plan is this: thirty minutes of exercise of some kind per day, for two weeks. After that, I can go in and put down another quarter of the payment. Another two weeks, another payment. If I forfeit a day, no payment gets put down. At the end of six weeks if I'm diligent, longer if I'm not, the boots will be mine, all mine. And the exercise habit should be fully ingrained. Unless I totally punt it, in which case I'm out the downpayment, the green Frye boots and the satisfaction of a job well done.
So there you have it.
Saturday morning, just did my first thirty minute session of this challenge.
